BRICKSTONE - WATER CONTAMINATION INEVITABLE and 250 ACRES DEAL NOT AS GOOD AS IT SOUNDS
I'm sure Brickstone will build the most advanced water treatment system they can, but keep in mind that this will not include removal of PPCP's, Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care Products. PPCP's are of particular concern because Brickstone has said that the average age is expected to be 72. While PPCPs are harmful, the government is still working out the guidelines and regulations for PPCPs. Since Brickstone will not be hooked up to sewer, the PPCP contaminated water will end up in the groundwater, contaminating wells for miles around, in Stoughton, Sharon and Easton. The injection of water from Brickstone is predicted to be 100,000 gallons per day. The bottom line is that this type of development is not appropriate for this area, where there are private citizens water at stake. The 250 acres of land Brickstone will deed back to the town is actually not as great a deal as Brickstone would like you to believe. This is because 8-story high rise buildings will split the land between the preserved area and borderland state park. Rather than a pristine, preserved, wildlife area you will have an area towered over by 8-story building - shining light and distributing noise into the preserved area 24 hours per day. Also, the wildlife areas will become contaminated with run off from the pesticides and fertilizers from the golf course and landscaping. I urge you to vote yest on the articles on November 5th at Sharon Town Meeting and not destroy this part of town.

Come to Town Meeting on November 5, 2007, and vote YES on Articles 1, 2 and 3. These articles are going to be first. They will be in the following order: 1. Eliminate the senior overlay district zoning. 2. Reduce the size of the complex 3. Require permits which would require Brickstone to follow the normal permitting process for this type of development.
Neighbors Against Destructive Development (NADD) continue to work to prevent damage to health and welfare of hundreds of families in Sharon, Stoughton and Easton due Brickstone Sharon Hills project. Visit http://www.naddgroup.org for details.
